Eoghan McKenna Appointed Chair of the Law Society NI Access to Justice Committee

December 3, 2025 admin

Our Co-Founder and Director, Eoghan McKenna, has been appointed Chair of the Law Society of Northern Ireland’s Access to Justice Committee. The appointment follows several years of dedicated service on the Committee and his previous leadership as Chair of the Criminal Law Committee.

Speaking on the announcement, Eoghan said:

“This is a crucial Law Society committee and I look forward to chairing the committee going forward at a particularly important moment for the Justice system. Access to Justice is an essential Human Right and an integral element of the Rule of Law. Access to Justice must be safeguarded and improved to ensure the effective operation of the Justice System.

The Access to Justice Committee will continue to have a focus on advocating for legal aid reform including improved remuneration arrangements for solicitors. There must also be a focus on ensuring a Justice System with equal and fair access for all citizens via an effective legal aid system and other efforts. Access to Justice has been undermined, under-resourced and under attack but it must be championed by us all and prioritised by government now.”

He added:

“If any issues of concern around Access to Justice arise for solicitors please contact the Law Society or me to discuss and hopefully we can help you.”

This appointment reflects Eoghan’s long-standing commitment to defending rights, improving access, and ensuring the Justice System works for every citizen.
